Gett, the global taxi app that works exclusively with licensed hackney carriages and black cabs across the UK, has announced its expansion to Reading, Milton Keynes, Slough and Oxford.
Following success in London, as well as an increased demand for services in outlying areas, Gett has pinpointed these cities as key in the company’s rapid growth and recruitment drive across Britain.
With 1,000 new drivers joining Gett each month, the team is now embarking on a huge recruitment drive to find licensed black cab drivers (hackney carriage drivers who are licensed directly by the council) looking to join the 7,000 drivers already working for the growing company.

After the successful launch across six UK cities including Manchester and Edinburgh, where we have had an amazing response both from consumers and drivers, we have now decided to expand even further across the country.”

Gett is the only premium on-demand e-hail app that provides 24/7 UK customer care; future bookings up to two weeks in advance; safety and security by confirming the driver’s name, photo and vehicle registration to users; and cashless payment via credit card. It currently has accounts with over 2,000 active businesses.
The very same app will soon allow users to ‘Gett’ other things – from beauty and home services, to dry cleaning and food and drink – all in just one tap, using the same technology that has empowered riders to take 30 million journeys across the globe.
Gett will be launching these services in the summer and the black cabs – that remain at the heart of the business – will not be affected.
