Creative Nature, an allergen-free food brand based in Molesey, Surrey, has become the first of its kind to be stocked in Holland & Barrett stores across the UK.

The business was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Julianne Ponan, spurred on by the difficulties she faced due to her own severe and life-threatening allergies.

She and the team have since built an award-winning range of baking mixes and snack bars.

Julianne said: “Having to deal with a food allergy in your day-to-day life can be really very difficult when you’re trying to navigate buying products that are safe to eat.

“Getting it wrong can literally be life-threatening and this can mean people often go without the tasty experiences that other people take for granted because they can’t take the risk of making a mistake.

“Having our products in Holland & Barrett represents further progress in our goal of making it as easy as possible for people dealing with food allergies to buy tasty alternatives with the confidence that they are entirely safe.”

Research from the Food Standards Agency has shown a 300 per cent rise in food allergies since 2021, with anywhere between 1 and 10 per cent of UK adults and children affected by food hypersensitivity.

Meanwhile, Creative Nature has grown from a small challenger to a leading brand stocked by many of the UK’s leading retailers, including Sainsbury’s, Ocado, Tesco and Asda.

Julia Parker, Category Manager at Holland & Barrett, added: “We’re pleased to announce Creative Nature as part of our food transformation programme.

“By having Creative Nature on our shelves, we are now able to cater for 98 per cent of the population’s dietary requirements.

“We’re really excited about what this means for our customers.”
