The LAUNCH DATE of the Thames Valley 250 is today, Thursday July 15. From tomorrow, the data will be available online in this section of the website.

Top economist Dennis Turner is the keynote speaker at the launch of the Thames Valley 250.

Turner, the chief economist at HSBC Bank, will give an expert’s insight into the prospects for business in 2010, as the economy comes out of recession.

The Thames Valley 250 is a list of the top private companies in the region. Only businesses that have their head office in the area, and are either home-grown or who have moved into the region from outside, are listed. Subsidiaries of foreign companies, and UK holding companies are ineligible, as are those that only have their registered address in the area. Companies are ranked by turnover.

Sponsored by business advisers Horwath Clark Whitehill, HSBC, law firm Blandy & Blandy LLP, and Thames Valley Innovation & Growth Team, the Thames Valley 250 will be a highly-anticipated annual listing of private businesses.

Exactly where each company features in the Thames Valley 250 will be revealed at a launch event at Stoke Park, Stoke Poges, today, in front of an invited audience.

The Business Magazine also plans to launch a Thames Valley 250 microsite, and an e-publication that can be read and searched on the web, and on iPhone and iPad devices.

A LinkedIn group has also been created so that Thames Valley 250 companies can communicate with each other about key issues.

“The Thames Valley 250 has created a lot of interest already,” said publisher David Murray. “After the launch, we will be canvassing the 250 companies to see if there is an appetite for regular networking events and initiatives that will help the companies do business with each other.”
