Law firm Trethowans has kicked off the new year with a senior appointment at its Southampton office.

The practice, which also has offices in Poole, Salisbury, Winchester and a base in London, has taken on Karl Cameron as a partner.

It’s set to be the first of several key appointments this year as the firm seeks to become a top 100 UK practice by 2020 with a turnover target of £20 million.

Cameron joins the commercial litigation team with more than 15 years’ experience in the legal industry, specialising in commercial litigation and with particular interest in professional negligence and property litigation. In his new role he will advise Trethowans’ clients, which range from local family businesses to big name national brands, on a wide range of issues. These include disputes arising from property transactions, construction projects or financial services.

Cameron said: “I couldn’t be more excited to join such a dynamic and fast-growing firm. It is a relationship-driven firm and I particularly look forward to working with existing clients to find out how we can better service them, add value to their businesses, and introduce them to our various working partners. I am joining at a very busy time with our imminent expansion into new Bournemouth offices, and with various links I have to the area I am eager to find out what prospective clients want and need from their lawyers in a changing legal landscape.”

Like dozens of experts at Trethowans, Cameron is commended in the revered The Legal 500 list and named in the prestigious Chambers & Partners legal directory.

Chris Whiteley, managing partner at Trethowans, said: “We’re very happy to have Karl as part of our team. His expertise will be of real benefit to our clients not just in Southampton but across the wider region.”
