Southampton: Alastair Stewart to speak at Solent Business Awards
Top television presenter Alastair Stewart will be the special guest speaker at the Solent Business Awards gala dinner, at Hilton at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton, on October 18.
Stewart is best known for presenting the ITV Evening News and the ITV Lunchtime News - and for him it will be a return to his home base. Born in Gosport, his career started in 1976 with ITV's Southern Television, in Southampton.
In April 2010, Stewart moderated the first-ever live TV debate between the party leaders, ahead of the General Election.
The evening will be hosted by BBC's Sally Taylor - and companies are being urged to book their tables now for what will be a highly-anticipated event.
Stewart recorded one of the last interviews with Lord Mountbatten, and even spent six weeks in Ford Open prison to make a half-hour documentary.
He has presented many of ITN’s special programmes including the state openings of Parliament, numerous by-elections, state visits and for the Royal Weddings of the Prince and Princess of Wales and Duke and Duchess of York.
Tickets for the black-tie dinner are available from Linda Morse at [email protected].
The event's chosen charity is Myeloma UK.
