GrowthAccelerator, a nationwide coaching service that helps business to achieve their growth potential, has announced a series of events to aid businesses in their quest for success. In connection with Olympic legends Steve Backley and Roger Black, the events across the south of England, will explore what businesses can learn from the accomplishments of sports stars and explore the performance insights and parallels from sports to business coaching. Olympic javelin double silver medallist Steve Backley and Olympian 400m silver medallist Roger Black have worked alongside GrowthAccelerator to develop the series of “Grow Faster” events. They have explored some of the minds behind the success of the London Games, including athletes, coaches and performance directors, in an attempt to find what it is that made London 2012 such a success for our sporting teams.

Backley said: “In sport, there is a desire among athletes to drive new levels of performance. Within this there is calmness, sense of confidence and a commitment. This attitude becomes a behaviour that drives growth and makes it sustainable. In the sports world, growth is an expectation – an obligation. We’re now looking at how we can work alongside GrowthAccelerator to translate this into business success too.”

Don McLaverty a GrowthAccelerator director, commented: “Through these events we’re going to help businesses from across the South of England to gather insight and intelligence from the sports world and apply it to their business. Sharing success across different industries and sectors will help businesses to develop a broader understanding of how they can deliver their own growth aspirations. We’re looking forward to meeting businesses from across the area and helping them to have an even brighter future.”

Backley and Black will join local entrepreneurs at two of the key events; at Eton Dorney and St Mary’s Football Stadium.

Full details of the event programme are below

  • Eton Dorney Lake, Windsor - Wednesday February 13
