The Guardian UK 300 List, compiled from a comprehensive survey of students conducted by international research firm trendence, has named law firm Blake Morgan, which has offices in Oxford, Reading, Portsmouth and Southampton, as one of the employers graduates would most like to work for.

Blake Morgan is one of only four UK-only law firms to make the list. Its placing has risen significantly from 286th to 183rd.

Students who took part in the survey were asked which career sectors interested them most, and were then invited to choose which graduate employers within those sectors they would most want to work for.

Liz Bryne, head of learning and development at Blake Morgan, said: “We are committed to building on our position as a leading graduate employer and this year’s results show that we are achieving that goal.”

Blake Morgan runs a number of initiatives to attract the best young talent including a graduate programme designed to give trainees opportunities to succeed in a nurturing training environment. The programme is carefully structured and designed to provide variety, responsibility and intellectual challenge.

Blake Morgan graduates on the scheme, each working with a partner or associate, are given a series of placements lasting three or six months in a range of departments, as well as the possibility to go on a secondment with one of the firm's clients. The aim is to give them experience of work in both the private and commercial areas.
