Solent ferry service Wightlink appoints new commercial director
Wightlink, a ferry company operating routes from Hampshire to the Isle of Wight, has appointed Phil Delany as its new commercial director.
Phil joins the company from Great Western Railway, where he held the same title. Before that, he held senior positions at Flybe and Trainline.
Before moving into the world of transport, Phil played rugby professionally for the Leicester Tigers, where he played alongside some of the 2003 World Cup winning team.

He said: “With staycations remaining very popular, ferries are in a strong position to win more customers and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues to develop our business further
“There are many parallels between the railway and ferry sectors. Both industries face similar challenges to keep customers happy while always operating safely and efficiently.
“I am delighted to be joining Wightlink at an important time in the company’s history. I look forward to using my career experience to ensure that our customers can continue to travel between the Isle of Wight and the mainland reliably and in comfort.”
