Signet International, winners of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2008, is to become the latest occupier at Slough Trading Estate. This month the Company has also won the International Trade Award at the Thames Valley Business Magazine Awards.

Signet has taken a ten year lease of 20,537sq ft (1,908sq m) at 812 Oxford Avenue. The facility will serve as an inventory management logistics centre and will be the main hub for the company’s UK and European distribution services as well as international air and ocean freight forwarding activities. Signet is expected to move into the premises in early February 2009.

Signet is one of the UK’s fastest growing international transportation and logistics service providers and its new base alongside global logistic companies, TNT and Fullers Logistics, confirms Slough Trading Estate’s ever-growing role at the heart of European transport and logistics.

Founded in 1984, Signet employs in excess of 50 people across four branches situated Banbury, Felixstowe, Cardiff and London Heathrow. Specialist groups within the company offer professional services in ocean freight, air freight, customs brokerage, inventory management and supply chain solutions. In addition, Signet operates its own express European distribution network, now covering 14 countries, and is a member of United Pallet Network serving all of UK and Ireland.

Richard Newport, Signet International’s managing director, said: “The new custom-built facility within easy access to the M25, M4 and M40 will help to facilitate the ongoing growth and development of the company.”

Neil Impiazzi, inward investment manager at Slough Trading Estate commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Signet International to the Trading Estate. To have another major international transportation and logistics company here underlines the attractiveness that the location and facilities provide and our committment to be an effective business partner.”
