One of Reading's oldest pubs - the Sun Inn - to close
The Sun Inn in Reading is set to close its doors for the last time this month, but not before one final party.
Before the shutters come down the Inn will raise money for he Duchess of Kent Hospice in memory of regular Carol Andrews by hosting a shindig.
The Sun Inn, has urged former patrons of the Castle Street hostelry to join staff for a fun day of music, dancing, and reminiscing on May 14.
A Facebook event stating managements decision to permanently call time has asked drinkers to say good bye to what is one of the Town's oldest pubs: “Come and join us on the 14th of May.
“As you have all heard, our beloved Sun Inn is closing down for good.
“Over the years we have all enjoyed many nights of entertainment hosted in our Grubby Palace.
“So to say goodbye, we are holding one final shindig with a day full of music, raffles, dancing and fun before we say our final goodbyes at the end of May.
“Many lifelong friendships have formed at the Sun Inn and so- to honour one of our favourite regulars, we will be raising money for The Duchess of Kent Hospice in memory of Carol Andrews.
“So please come along, get merry, buy a few raffle tickets and say “farewell!” to an incredible 320 years of the Sun Inn on Castle Street.”
