Businesses across Worcestershire were given an exclusive peak preview of the local housebuilding supply chain opportunities on the horizon with Sanctuary Homes at FinditinWorcestershire’s second ‘Meet the Buyer’ event of 2019.

Over 70 attendees arrived at Sixways Stadium  to meet with key buyers from the local house builder to talk about the opportunities due to take shape across some of its multi-million pound housing developments.

Sanctuary Homes, part of Sanctuary Group, which spends over £200 million each year via contracts with preferred suppliers, gave local decorators, groundworkers, bricklayers, electricians and plumbers the opportunity to hear how it will develop 30,0000 new homes over the next 10 years.

Construction Director, Mike Melly was joined by John Reece, Head of Technical and Design, Ian King, Head of Commercial Services and Neil Ruecroft, Head of Construction, bright and early at the event to meet local sub-contractors and suppliers in a series of one-to-one meetings.

The event also gave local firms the chance to talk to the Sanctuary Homes representatives about the supply packages that will stem from plans to build various new housing schemes via a new in-house construction division.

The procurement and commercial services teams gave attendees guidance on how to do business with them on the upcoming new-build projects, which include 34 units at Cranham Drive in Warndon, Worcester and 110 units at Drakes Broughton in Pershore.

Mike Melly delivered an informative presentation about how the company will manage the construction of approximately 709 units and what is required for the delivery pipeline of works.

He said: “The coming year is crucial to the success of the Group’s development aims. This will require all teams across development to work together to find and deliver sites that provide excellent new homes at an affordable price.”

Over the next three to four months Sanctuary Homes will assemble its construction arm across the county.

This is an exciting opportunity for its construction team to build new partnerships across all local trades, including groundworkers, carpenters, electricians, bricklayers, plumbers, plasters, timber frame companies, scaffolders and decorators.

As well as working with larger developers, it is highly supportive of small and medium-sized enterprises and FinditinWorcestershire’s aim was for the event to help build relationships between Sanctuary Group and local subcontractors and builder’s merchants.

The company offers prompt payment terms and the possibility of repeat business for local organisations.

Lorna Jeynes, Project Manager of FinditinWorcestershire, said: “Worcestershire is a real hotbed of activity in the house building industry and we wanted to give FinditinWorcestershire members the opportunity to meet with buyers looking to build lasting relationships with suppliers across the housing sector.

“With the number of new build and affordable housing developments at a record high, Sanctuary Homes will be associated with projects in prime locations which will need local supply chain partners to help them deliver high quality new homes.”
