Roll up! Roll up - the pubs are reopening next week...
As pubs across the region are looking forward to reopening next week, some are going the extra mile to make a visit worthwhile.
The Bathurst Arms in North Cerney, Gloucestershire has converted a 24ft teepee into a circus themed dining space.
The Cotswold pub, which was awarded five stars for a 95 per cent organic menu by the Soil Association Certification, has created the outdoor venue to comply with the regulations set that they, like all pubs, cafes and restaurants, may reopen on April 12 in the latest of the Covid lockdown easing measures.
Several model zebras, a toy panther and various items, inspired by local show, Giffords Circus, amongst others adorn the teepee. The idea was that of Bathurst customer and North Cerney villager, Fran Robbins. Jordan Pelly is the pubs landlord and said: “We didn’t want to just put up a marquee or some covering, we wanted to have some fun and Fran had this great (circus) idea. I guess this makes me the ring master.
“The tipi adds 40 covers to our large garden that with the tipi can now hold 120 safely. Like so many in hospitality we cannot wait to open on Monday to show off our new spring menu and get back to what we do best.”
