Redditch aerospace manufacturer reveals new factory plans
Redditch-based Mettis Aerospace has revealed plans to build a new factory.
The company, which designs and manufactures precision-forged and machined components, is planning to build a new factory on its Redditch site in response, it says, to a number of multi-million-pound aerospace contracts it's won.
The factory will enable the expansion of the company's machining business. It will be investing in six, new fully automated machines which will be capable of processing components 24/7. The advanced levels of automation will enable the further reduction of lead times for customers.
Components produced in its onsite forges will be machined in the factory.
Earlier this month, it was announced that The Wireless Broadband Alliance, a Singapore-based organisation supporting  the adoption of next generation Wi-Fi services across the Wi-Fi ecosystem, is undertaking the world’s first Wi-Fi 6 Industrial Enterprise and IoT trial, as part of its ongoing Wi-Fi 6 program. Mettis Aerospace will work with WBA members to test several use cases on a Wi-Fi 6 network at its 27-acre West Midlands facility.
In a statement, the company said: "The new factory will be the first new facility of this scale we’ve built in many years and demonstrates our commitment to manufacturing in the UK, creating jobs and investing in an exciting future."
