Record turnover and tripled profits at Europa Worldwide Group
Logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group, which has its head office in Dartford, Kent, has reported a record £276 million turnover for the year ended 31 December 2021.
This has helped the firm triple its profits for the same period, taking it up to £10 million from its previous £3.6 million in 2020. The firm looks set to continue its upward trend, too, reporting a turnover of £316 million for the 12 months to August 2022.
A large part of this growth has been generated by the firm’s Heathrow site at Meadlake Place in Egham, home to 30 employees operating under the Europa’s European Road freight and Air & Sea divisions.
Rob Jones, Finance Director at Europa Worldwide Group, said: “We’re delighted with our latest results, and would like to thank everyone at Europa for their immense contribution in delivering these. The Group has demonstrated flexibility in helping its teams and customers adapt to an evolving marketplace and sustain high levels of overall performance.
“2021 was a year of consolidation for Europa, as we built on our strengths and developed bold new plans to drive forward growth across all three divisions. It is an incredibly exciting time for the business, which maintains huge momentum, allowing us to accelerate our strategy to drive out complexity and deliver an even better service for our customers.”
Europa puts part of its success down to its preparation for Brexit, to which end it developed its frictionless custom product, Europa Flow, which it says removes “lengthy fee and paperwork barriers that would otherwise hold goods up in transit.”

During the pandemic, Europa says it simplified its operating model and supported its customers and teams in doing the same, pointing to its 3pl Warehouses division as an example of the success of this model.
Europa Air & Sea, the firm’s air and sea freight service, experienced strong growth in 2021 as economies opened up, tapping into the global air and sea freight forwarding growth of 14.9 per cent and 6.6 per cent respectively.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andrew Baxter said: “Our open and transparent approach has been key in adapting and optimising supply chains to unlock growth potential along the way. Our 2021 financial results – the best ever in the firm’s history – are testament to this, and the immense efforts we invested in Brexit, and preparedness to keep our customers’ freight moving despite the ongoing Covid challenges.
"Europa Flow has been the lynchpin of this success because it was well designed and executed, offering the best route for customers to navigate the new business landscape. So too has our superb Corby Warehouse, which is now operating in profit just two years after opening. This is an immense achievement which we’re incredibly proud of.
“Special thanks must go to our dedicated Heathrow team and the Board for its sharp focus on innovation to ensure efficiency, agility and future sustainability. We will continue to build on our strong foundations to gain market share whilst also facing economic uncertainty head on, with flexibility and a determination to succeed for our customers.”
