Reading FC Community Trust is Green Park's charity of the year

Thames Valley business park Green Park said it is teaming up with Reading FC Community Trust, the latter being its charity of the year.

The trust is a charity and the community arm of the football club, which aims to enrich the lives, via sport, of disadvantaged communities within Reading and surrounding areas.

Through programmes in partnership with schools, colleges, youth clubs, sports centres and universities, it helps more than 3,500 participants every week.

Fiona Lyons, director of asset management, UK for Mapletree Investments, which owns Green Park, said: "Reading FC Community Trust does incredible work, going deep into our local community to change the lives of marginalised young people through its initiatives.

"At Green Park, we’ve always been committed to supporting health, education, and inclusive wellbeing and sports programmes for everyone. The Trust and our mission are aligned and we look forward to supporting them."

Green Park will lead a series of fundraising initiatives, including at the Reading 10 kilometre - a running race hosted around Green Park - and a bespoke fundraising quiz night alongside other planned activities.

Richard Witt, community trust deputy manager/ social inclusion manager added: "As an independent charity, the Community Trust relies on support and funding from organisations to ensure we can continue our essential work to care for, develop and educate people of all ages, cultures, backgrounds and abilities from within the Reading and surrounding areas.

"Having incredible partners like Green Park means we can continue to significantly increase the life-changing support vulnerable young people need to make a positive impact within our local community."
