The Brittelstand Symposium, taking place on September 22, will address the challenges of mid-market enterprises – the ‘real drivers of UK growth’ – with a feast of inspirational speakers and topical debating sessions.

The one-day symposium, hosted by Business United, has been designed for the leaders of wealth-creating businesses with an annual turnover of more than £1 million.

Topics include:

  • Scale-up and sustain, with a particular focus on the effects of Brexit
  • Gearing for growth
  • Access to finance
  • Accessing and retaining talent
  • Exporting
  • Understanding how to access and manage government contracts
  • Building a growth culture.

The opening address will be given by Lord Mark Price CVO, minister of state for trade, and will be followed by an interactive session chaired by Professor Graeme Leach to discuss what our mid-sized Brittelstand businesses need by way of support from the Government as Brexit evolves.

The day will include three one-hour breakout sessions which will be led by appropriately-experienced peer group mentors and/or professionals.

The Redwood Lecture, supported by Redwood Technologies, is to be given by Matthew Syed, the acclaimed Times columnist and author of Bounce and Black Box Thinking. Syed will look at the ‘growth mindset’, and how to foster the right environment within your business to encourage constant innovation and growth.

The Symposium is supported by Henley Business School at the University of Reading. It is a ‘not for profit’ event taking place at Wokefield Park in Mortimer, Reading (off J11 of the M4).
