Blandy & Blandy LLP’s leading employment law team has announced the topic for this autumn’s Mock Employment Tribunal event at Reading’s Green Park Conference Centre.

‘Was the Employee Dismissed Fairly by the Council or Was Their Dismissal Due to Whistleblowing Against it?’ is the confirmed title.

Partner and team head Sue Dowling explained: “In the increasingly regulatory working environment, when managing HR and employment issues employers are more often becoming embroiled in cross-allegations of “whistleblowing”, further complicating the process and potentially exposing them to considerable expense in management time, reputational risk and financial outlay.

"We will consider a full unfair dismissal case, concerning allegations of misconduct with cross-allegations relating to detrimental treatment due to whistleblowing.”

Following evidence from both sides, cross-examination of witness and submissions, the employment judge will decide whether the employee was fairly dismissed for misconduct or whether his allegations of whistleblowing mean that his dismissal was automatically unfair.

Dowling, playing the role of the judge, will be joined by fellow partner Tim Clark, associate solicitor Laura Binnie and solicitor Andrea Corr.

100% of attendees said that they would recommend the firm’s 2018 event to others, describing it as “a great event”, “very informative”, “realistic”, “very relatable” and “excellent all round”.
