Legal experts at Gloucestershire-based Willans LLP solicitors will be sharing valuable expertise and practical tips in a new series of free webinars for employers, on a range of topical issues and their implications, from Brexit through to redundancy, home working and flexible working.

The first in the series,

Redundancy and the alternatives – a snapshot for employers”, will be held on

Tuesday 20 October from 10am – 11am.

It will see Willans’ Legal 500 and Chambers-rated employment law team talk through the big questions around redundancy; “What is it? When to use it? What are the alternatives, and what are the key steps in the redundancy process”. They will also cover appeals, explore flexible working and home working as options available.

The seconds topic to be covered in the series is “Brexit and the end of free movement – how businesses can prepare” on Thursday 12 November, in which Willans’ employment lawyers will talk businesses through the big changes, the legal framework, and the practical actions businesses can undertake now to prepare.

The remaining two webinars will take an in-depth dive into flexible working and how your organisation can adapt and prepare, and examine the employment law considerations of homeworking – the risks, special considerations and key administrative changes that will need to be made.

20 October | Redundancy and the alternatives – snapshot for employers | 10am-11am

12 November | Brexit and the end of free movement | 10am-11am

19 November | Flexible working – is your business ready? | 10am-11am

25 November | Home working – what does it mean for employers? | 10am-11am

Partner and webinar host Matthew Clayton, who this month has been named a ‘leading individual’ in the region for his employment law expertise in The Legal 500, commented:  “In 2020 most employers (and indeed employment lawyers!) have found themselves in uncharted territory; businesses and their advisors have had to work together to interpret and put into practice a whole host of changes, and do so very quickly.  “We now find ourselves exploring with our clients what the longer-term consequences of the pandemic are going to be for them, and how they need to adapt. The webinar series is designed to unpack, debate and shine a light on some of those issues.”

Other Willans lawyers presenting in the series include employment law senior associate Jenny Hawrot, who this month has been named a ‘rising star’ in independent directory The Legal 500, and commercial & employment law solicitor Helen Howes, who brings in-depth knowledge of business immigration law.

All webinars in the series are free to attend and are aimed at employers, directors, senior executives, HR professionals and in-house legal advisors.

Many areas of law which we advise on and a good number of our lawyers are recommended purely on merit year-on-year by national independent legal guides who speak to clients about their experiences. With around 80 people, we are large enough to provide first-class specialist services yet small enough to give genuinely personal service. Our skills, experience and competitive rates combine to ensure clients get good value for money. In terms of technical expertise and the size and value of the transactions we handle, our track record shows our performance more than matches that of many of our larger competitors. This is reflected in our top tier positions in national legal guides.
