Leading UK cookware and kitchen retailer ProCook, which revealed that it had rescued Steamer Trading. the speciality kitchenware retailer out of administration in January, has revealed that around 21 leases of the 27 stores it purchased along with its e-commerce business and the head office team) are near completion. The company is also completing a new look for stores which are benefitting from 100s of new product lines.

However, it has also announced the closure of six stores. Those affected are S Guildford, Brentwood, Cardiff, Hereford, Stamford and Witney.

ProCook owner, Daniel O’Neill, said: " “We’ve been working tirelessly since the purchase of Steamer Trading back in January to establish new relationships with suppliers and landlords, and we’re close to securing leases on 21 stores. Unfortunately, due to a tough economic climate and unworkable property costs we will be closing 6 stores at the end of April. This necessary decision will enable us to concentrate our resources into the remaining stores and website and continue delivering on our ambition to grow both the Steamer Trading and ProCook brands.”

For staff affected by the closures ProCook will be seeking to offer vacancies in other Steamer Trading and ProCook stores where possible.

ProCook was founded in 1995 and supplies high quality kitchen and dining ware with savings of up for 50% compared to other leading brands, by producing and delivering products direct to the customer with no middleman. Headquartered in Gloucestershire, ProCook has 37 UK stores, a hugely successful eCommerce business and trades within 29 international territories. It designs and manufactures around 1200 exclusive products that span cookware, kitchen accessories and tableware categories.
