As the seaside city recovers from the economic fall out that followed COVID19, Brighton Palace Pier is bouncing back in style - with the owners of Brighton Pier Group announcing record-breaking revenues for the year to June 26th.

Net sales rose to £40.1 million for the seaside attraction - up nearly 200% on 2021 and up 25% on 2019, meaning the results are an improvement even on pre-pandemic figures.

Brighton Pier Group additionally saw like-for-like sales for both their bars and golf division increase by 21 per cent and 23% respectively on 2019’s numbers. The pier's like-for-like sales improved by 12% on 2019 figures.

Chief executive officer of Brighton Pier Group, Anne Ackord reacted to the news: “I have been delighted by the strength of the group’s recovery following the Covid-19 pandemic and am pleased that we have surpassed £40 million of sales for the first time in the group’s history.

“This must be attributed to the endeavours of all the group’s employees, for which we are very grateful.

“This trading period has been exceptional, benefiting both from pent-up customer demand and from hospitality-targeted government recovery packages.

“The cash-generative nature of the group’s diverse businesses puts us in a unique position to capitalise on new opportunities as and when they arise.”

Previously the group had found themselves £7.7m in debt and these record-breaking revenues will allow them to repay that amount. Forced to close during the global pandemic, when it once again reopened it saw over 6,000 visitors on its first day back in business in April 2021.
