Portsmouth University is calling for the public to have a say on a number of proposed developments on campus ahead of it putting in planning submissions.

The Hampshire university wants to invest £250 million over the next decade on numerous projects and has launched a three week consultation on its revised estates strategy until March 3.

"We are now approaching a very exciting milestone in the development of our estate, with planning applications for a number of proposed buildings due to be submitted shortly," said Professor Graham Galbraith, the vice-chancellor.

"These plans are a major investment by the University to support our strategy to deliver globally recognised research, become one of the UK's leading universities in environmental sustainability and deliver our commitment to enhancing the local community.

"The public’s input is invaluable in helping us create an even better teaching, learning and research environment for all which enhances the attractiveness of our city."

Plans include constructing new buildings, refurbishing existing facilities and creating new public spaces, such as a new Student Hub, a new technology building, a teaching lab and a revised development at the Victoria Park site.

Work has already started and the now completed Ravelin Sports Centre has been recognised as one of the UK's most sustainable sports centres.

The building has won a series of accolades and awards such as the 2023 IOC IPC IAKS Architecture prize, the public sector project: design stage award at the BREEAM Awards 2020, and received a top rating of ‘Outstanding’ from BREEAM UK.

The public consultation includes a community event on February 20 from 4 to 7pm in the university’s Eldon building. You can register for the free event HERE.
