Pinewood Studios, near Slough, is preparing to hold a careers festival in November.

The Pinewood Futures Festival is aimed at both 14-22 year olds and career changers, looking to inform people of all backgrounds and areas about the range of role available in the UK Film & TV industry.

Taking place on 18 & 19 November, the event will feature: an Exhibitor zone, where companies and educational organisations can discuss careers and routes into the industry; Q&As and masterclasses with well-known speakers and industry professionals on the range of roles available and how to get a foot in the door; opportunities to discuss how a production comes together with various production departments; and workshops and demos with industry insiders.

Already, schools, individuals and educational institutions from around the country, including areas highlighted by the government as ‘opportunity areas’ have registered more than 4,000 tickets.

Pinewood Studios’ Corporate Affairs Director, Andrew M. Smith OBE DL, said: “Pinewood Group are delighted to be hosting the Futures Festival, the largest careers fair of its kind, welcoming 4,000 young people to our Studios in Buckinghamshire from across the UK.

“Attracting new talent and developing skills are key priorities for Pinewood Group to support the growth of our booming screen industry.”

Representatives from a variety of departments in Film and TV production, including Art Department, Costume, Props, Lighting, Construction, Camera, Producing, script-writing, Special and Visual Effects, will be on hand to meet and converse with attendees.

The careers event comes during an exciting time for the Thames Valley Film and TV industry, which has seen a number of recent developments, including the ongoing construction of Shinfield Studios.
