Penningtons Manches Cooper’s corporate team has advised OQEMA, a global chemical distribution, manufacturing and marketing company, on its acquisition of Rocara, an Irish business specialising in chemicals, solvents and surfactants with operations in Belfast and Dublin.

Oxford based corporate partner, David Tighe, led the Penningtons Manches Cooper team supported by corporate associate, Katharine Robinson. Real estate advice was provided by Laura Gorman, in addition to support from the firm’s employment specialists.

The acquisition of Rocara sees OQEMA secure an Irish footprint to its ever-growing international presence and follows OQEMA’s acquisition of parts of the Whyte Chemicals group in 2018, which Penningtons Manches Cooper also advised on. Rocara’s surfactants division helps consolidate OQEMA’s personal and home care business whilst its solvents are a natural extension of OQEMA’s existing business.

Robert Moss, managing director of OQEMA in the UK, said: “It was a pleasure to work with David and the team at Penningtons Manches Cooper again on this key strategic deal for the OQEMA group. They are a great firm to work with – approachable, knowledgeable, commercial and responsive; in short, all the things you want from your corporate lawyers. This acquisition supports our business in so many ways.".
