A Reading brewery has raised a glass in appreciation of a local bus route by paying homage to it with their new brew.
The ale named, The Number Seventeen, is from Tilehurst based Double Barrelled Brewery, and was named after a popular Reading bus route which runs close to their taproom. The route has been in use for some 100 years.
Colloquially known as Purple 17 the bus route is an iconic part of the town’s heritage and the brewery has also branded the packaging in appreciation of the route.
Double Barrell describe their latest offering as: “An homage to the backbone of Reading - a real slice of Ding pop culture. A super juiced up Pale with an explosion of flavour belying it’s ABV - full of Galaxy, Mosaic and Columbus for sticky tropical vibes.”
Founded in 2016, Double Barrelled is an independent small batch brewery specialising in sours and stouts. The taproom has also recently extended its opening hours to patrons who can now drop in four days per week and raise a glass to the bus route, or indeed whoever they please.
The latest refreshingly named ale takes its place in a product line which also boost beers entitled, I always wanted to go to space and three day vacation.
