Winners at the Maritime UK Solent Awards 2022

The Maritime UK Solent Awards 2023 officially opened on Tuesday, 2 May with a call to Solent businesses to showcase their success.

Anne-Marie Mountifield, Chair of Maritime UK Solent, said: "The Maritime UK Solent Awards are a showcase for the region and a true celebration of the brilliance in the Solent's maritime cluster.

“It's an evening that allows individual businesses to thank their employees, to engage with other organisations as well as to celebrate the year's past achievements and look forward to new opportunities."

Andy Page, Managing Director of Chartwell Marine, who won the International Trade and Business of the Year Awards in 2022, told attendees: "Having won Business of the Year and the International Trade awards at the Maritime UK Solent Awards last year has opened up new market opportunities for us and has helped us to attract new engineers to the team.

“It's given us the confidence internally to push new products and develop new services. I'd highly recommend pursuing these awards."

Entries to the awards are open until 5 June 2023, with categories which recognise both current success and the future of the industry through awards such as the Future Skills award and Apprentice of the Year award.

Chris Scrutton, Managing Director of Vulcan Offshore, and Winner of the Start-up of the Year category at last year's awards, told attendees at the launch event: "Maritime UK Solent is a fantastic organisation, giving a huge advantage from a networking perspective. Winning the Start-up of the Year Award last year has provided us with real tangible benefits.

“Our interaction with potential customers has increased, alongside contact with local council authorities, and our social media engagement following our success at last year's awards has helped hugely with our growth on this platform."

Maritime UK Solent is also inviting organisations to support the awards and the Solent region's maritime industry by becoming a sponsor of the 2023 Awards. Opportunities to celebrate the Solent’s maritime sector through sponsorship stretch across 13 awards categories, highlighting the attributes that contribute to the achievements of this exceptional regional cluster.
