Maritime UK Solent (MUK Solent), the regional sector-based cluster and employer representative body, is holding its next official network meeting as part of Ocean Business 2023.

This will involve talks from three speakers who will focus on the concept of a sustainable and circular economy approach to business, the development of Net Zero Oceanographic Capability (NZOC), and the green skills requirements for the maritime sector.

The chair of MUK Solent Anne-Marie Mountifield said:  “This is an exciting event for anybody interested in the future of ocean technology and wanting to find out more about green maritime skills. We're bringing together maritime businesses to network, and ocean science experts will be on hand to share knowledge and insights on evolving technology in the industry.

"Maritime UK Solent is committed to championing, leading and growing the region's maritime sector, and this is an excellent opportunity for maritime organisations in the Solent to connect, develop, and promote their businesses.”

Stuart Baker, MUK Solent’s managing director, will speak about future skills for the maritime sector; followed by a talk from MUK Solent’s Programme Manager Lorna Wagner on finding a rewarding career in the maritime sector.

Ocean Business 2023 is a global event in which businesses can meet with maritime science professionals and share their own ideas about what the future of ocean technology looks like.

Innovation centre manager at the National Oceanography Centre Mark Hamson said: "We are excited to co-host this Breakfast Meeting with Maritime UK Solent. It is also a great opportunity to come and network with like-minded sector professionals and to visit Ocean Business 2023."
