The luxury camping pods are set to open in the private Chiddinglye estate near Brighton, West Sussex.

Designed by Glampitect, these luxury five-star camping pods are located on the residence of Chiddinglye, a private estate in the High Weald Area of outstanding natural beauty national park.

The site is situated on the watershed of the Ouse and Medway and it is only 35 miles from Hyde Park Corner and 20 miles north of Brighton.

The Glamping Pods all contain a standard double bed, a small kitchen and dining area, and an en-suite shower room including bedding, towels and crockery.

All of their pods are insulated and have under-floor heating and guests can even pre-order a welcome hamper of local produce.

Guests will be able to access all 320 acres of the Chiddinglye estate grounds except for the private gardens, which can be made available by arrangement.

Edmund Limerick, 7th Earl of Limerick and owner of the site, said: “When my father passed away 19 years ago, we were a dairy farm, one of only two surviving dairy farms in the parish.

“I took the decision to cease dairy farming and moved to sheep as well as arable farming. We also started a solar farm and woodchip supply business and have hosted the annual ‘Into the Wild Festival’ since August 2018.

“When I looked at diversification I realised our real asset was the fact we’re located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

“On the farm we also have a Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI) on account of rare ferns and mosses, lichen and bryophytes, and there’s also an 11-acre garden with rare azaleas and rhododendrons among ancient woodland so it’s a very special place.”

Chiddinglye said their plans for the future involve additional wilding projects such as restoring a wild swimming area in a stream, creating a new wildflower meadow and the reintroduction of beavers.
