The Institute of Directors (IoD) is to recruit a new chair for its Hampshire and Isle of Wight branch, as Aileen Ryan steps down from the role.

The IoD is a membership community for directors which provides professional development, valuable connections and an influential lobbying voice.

Aileen, who was appointed chair last year, is currently senior director of portfolio strategy at Siemens. Her career spans operations and strategy roles in the semiconductor and software engineering industries.

She said: “It has been my great pleasure to chair the Hampshire and IoW branch. As directors our world has changed utterly in a very short space of time and I am proud of how the IoD continues to rise to the challenge of supporting the business community.

“I look forward to continuing the conversations and further building relationships within our local community in the future.”

Her successor as branch chair will become the voice of directors in the region, working alongside a branch team to support its 600 members from a wide range of industries and backgrounds.

Faisal Khan, chair of IoD South, said: “I’d like to give my huge thanks to Aileen for her leadership and passion for the local business community. She will be a hard act to follow.

“Our new chair will help Hampshire and IoW business leaders to face up to the many and varied challenges we are all currently facing while providing them with the support and inspiration to become better directors.”

The voluntary position is open to all IoD members who live or work in the area. Applicants must have a demonstrable track record in board or equivalent roles, with established business interests and a strong network of local contacts.

Candidates should send their CV and covering letter to polly.laughton@iod.com by 30 June.
