Buckinghamshire New University has appointed Sean Mackney as pro vice-chancellor education.

Mackney joins on January 4  from the University of Exeter, where he is currently director of student education and engagement.

Mackney’s previous positions have included acting chief executive and senior deputy chief executive at the Higher Education Academy and head of learning and teaching at the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

He said: “'I am proud to be joining Bucks New University. The University has an amazing range of creative and inspiring courses that can provide its students with the springboard to a successful professional career.

“It has some great facilities across its campuses and is connected to employers, businesses and the community – something really important to me and I think to the students who choose to learn at Bucks.

“I am looking forward to joining the team and working with students and staff at Bucks to see that all of our graduates succeed in whatever they choose to do. Bucks is a young, ambitious university with a great future ahead of it. I can't wait to be part of realising that ambition.”

Professor Rebecca Bunting, vice-chancellor of Bucks New University, said: “We have made an excellent appointment and I very much look forward to Sean joining Bucks in the new year.”
