PSP is on track to double the number of commercial boats it has shipped for a second consecutive year.

The worldwide logistics firm made the announcement on June 16 at Seawork, the largest and fastest-growing international commercial marine and workboat exhibition and conference held in a European working port environment.

PSP is picking up the gauntlet thrown down by the UK Marine Alliance to urge greater cooperation across the marine industries to see its value to the UK economy rise from £17 billion to £25b a year by 2020.

Managing director Frank Dixie said: “If the UK marine industry rises to the challenge there could be huge growths in exports, meaning logistics companies like ours need to be lean, fast and ready to move quickly. PSP’s roots lay in the commercial marine industry and we want to support the companies around us by safely shipping their goods and making sure their hard work reaches customers around the world.”

Among the commercial boats PSP has transported so far is Strategic Marine’s world-first multi-purpose vessel. The StratCat Njord Odin has the very first commercial quad IPS installation on a vessel, with the distinction of being the first IPS quad fitted on a catamaran. It also has the world’s first IPS version 900 quad installation on any vessel.

PSP was appointed to transport the vessel from Singapore to Rotterdam, where it will be used by Njord Offshore as a windfarm vessel.

PSP has also transported Alamarin Jet’s demonstration vessel HTech A25 Cabin across Europe for a busy season of marine exhibitions. Among the destinations PSP has shipped the 8.5m aluminium vessel to and from are Finland, Spain and Portugal. The workboat is currently on display at Seawork this week, having been seafreighted to the UK by PSP.

Dixie added: “The commercial marine industry continues to go from strength to strength and the evidence of that is right here today at Seawork as we see a packed exhibition from companies across the sector.

“In turn demand for our commercial marine services is growing and we are proud to be on track to double our commercial shipments once again in 2015.”
