Green Insurance Group, which has offices throughout Kent and Sussex, has completed its acquisition of Brighton-based family business Petherwick Insurance Brokers for an undisclosed sum.

Petherwicks’ offices will remain in place after the sale is complete and all members of the team will stay with Petherwicks under the new ownership.

Petherwicks owner Bob White, who works with his two children at the firm, said: "This is a great deal for us as we look to embark on the next stage of our journey with the support and investment from Greens.

"Duncan painted a compelling picture of the opportunity for us with Greens and the wider GRP and Brown & Brown team," he added.

"We were especially enthused by the Brown & Brown concept of the ‘forever company’, which is a core part of the group, and we look forward to playing our part in expanding the group presence in the South East of the UK."

Duncan Coleman, CEO of Greens, described Petherwicks, mainly a commercial lines broker, as an "excellent business that expands our footprint along the South East coast".

Green Insurance is part of Global Risk Partners Limited (GRP), one of the largest independent insurance intermediary groups in the UK, which, in turn is a Brown & Brown company - the fifth largest independent insurance brokerage in the nation.
