Specialist recruitment agency Fusion People has outlined the trends it predicts will dominate recruitment during 2021. In coping with Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions, Fusion noted that “employees, bosses and businesses have learnt to adapt and be prepared for more of the same patterns throughout this year.”

The Whitely-headquartered company specialises in recruitment in the construction, engineering and rail industries. Here are its key predictions for 2021:

Remote working is here to stay

Many surveys have been conducted on the idea of working from home – and the highest result usually portrays that most of us prefer a bit of home working and a bit of office working. The variety is nice, and the social aspect of the office is unbeaten, whereas working from home is good for those days when you really need to get your head down and crack on.

Virtual Interviews

We’re likely to be seeing a lot more video and telephone interviews this year. If you are finding yourself in the position of searching for a new job – then be prepared for a very new recruitment process. Make sure to be just as prepared, and try and ensure that the wi-fi or poor phone signal won’t get in the way.

Digital Skills may be more sought after

With the implementation of remote working in many industries, your digital ability is going to be more important than ever. Almost all of your work is going to be done with the use of technology, and with technology comes digital. Even basic meetings are now being done digitally. If you aren’t confident in this area, then speak to your employer – they should offer you some training and support to allow you to continue working in your new environment. If you’re searching for a new role – then use any free time you have to watch training videos.

Employer branding will be increasingly important

The reputations and cultures of businesses have never been more in the spotlight. The attitudes that workplaces have will be brought into the light during this time – and candidates will want to see how companies manage and look after their employees. This is a good time for companies to market themselves as a place that you’d want to work.
