Banbury-based Fortress Technology Europe has opened a new manufacturing facility, moving into a new purpose-built industrial unit which will become the firm's EMEA headquarters on Thorpe Way.

The 30,000 sq ft (2,800 sq m) facility, will triple the company's capacity.

The unit, Stealth House, which is named after the company’s flagship food metal detector, will be home to nearly 70 food inspection engineering and service specialists. Fortress Technology construct x-ray, metal detectors and checkweighers. The firm supply supermarkets and retailers throughout Europe and beyond.

The state-of-the-art production facility will see both sides of the business, namely Fortress and Sparc innovation, which they acquired in 2019 housed together under one roof.

Fortress supply inspection equipment to blue chip food companies as well as start-ups and SME factories, Managing Director Phil Brown is quick to point out the exciting career pathways this Banbury expansion offers. “This is an exciting time for digital technologies. Especially in the food production market. It’s a petri dish of innovation and opportunities.

"Speaking from personal experience, joining a fast growing private company that still has a family ethos at its core is a great way to advance your personal and professional skills and climb the career ladder.”

Chief Operations Officer (COO) Sarah Mahony who helped to oversee the migration to Stealth House is one of many senior managers whose career has progressed and been promoted as Fortress outgrew its previous office space.

Commercial Manager Jodie Curry concludes: “This move represents another exciting chapter in our growth. No inspection company globally is now better placed to navigate the food supply and pricing challenges brought about by the pandemic and now the Ukraine crisis.

"Ongoing export investments and a steady stream of new sales agents in Scandinavia, central Europe, including Germany and Spain, and the Arab Emirates, reflects the faith the global food sector and industry stakeholders has in the Fortress Technology brand.”
