Fisher German raises more than £18,000 for local charities

Two charities which provide vital support to the Worcester community are set to receive more than £18,500 following a fundraising ball.

Leading chartered surveyor Fisher German is donating the funds to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven following the firm’s charity ball at Spetchley Park Gardens.

The event was hosted by the firm’s Worcester office and raised more than £37,000, which will be split equally between the two causes.

Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is an independent charity which provides free clinical and support services to those suffering from breast cancer.

The funds will go towards its complementary therapies programme, which provides sessions including acupuncture, counselling and nutritional advice for patients.

The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, which also receives no government funding and relies on donations, is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances serving Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

The charity averages six missions per day, each costing £2,500, and the Fisher German donation will go towards funding these.

Partners from the firm returned to Spetchley Park Gardens to present the funds to the charities.

Lexi Craigie, fundraising manager at Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, said: “We feel extremely proud and privileged to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of Fisher German’s charity ball.

“We are a small charity which relies solely on donations, and this funding is incredible and will go a long way in providing support to the men and women of Worcestershire.”

Adam Williams, corporate development executive at the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, added: “Funding like this is vitally important, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Fisher German for selecting us to receive the donation.

“The charity has responded to more than 50,000 missions since it was established 27 years ago and it is a service that anyone could need at any time. The donation will make a huge difference by funding more than seven missions.”

More than 360 people attended the ball which included a drinks reception, a three-course meal and entertainment from the band Killerstream.

There was also a raffle as well as an auction which included high-quality items including a guitar signed by the band Coldplay, artwork signed by heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, short breaks, meals and sports tickets.

The final lot of the evening was a luxury yacht charter in Mallorca, with the winning bid hitting £10,000.
