Visitors to the Cotswold Water Parks were greeted by Disney royalty at the weekend when Elsa of Arendelle made a surprise appearance at the Gateway Centre ice rink.

The character from Walt Disney’s 2013 animation Frozen was of course an actor but it has caused a stir as she took to the ice on the temporary ice rink that has been added to the Gateway Centre for the festive period.

The ice rink will be in place from 18 of November till 3 January. The Gateway Centre, which is owned by The Relish Group in Cirencester, director Rob Goves said: “We would like to thank Elsa for coming to have a look at what we have done here. We have so many families visit the site over the weekend we wanted to bring a bit of cinema gold to the rink.”

The ice rink is Gloucestershire's largest all weather ice rink yet, with an impressive capacity of over 100 skaters, and its real ice. Skaters can enjoy a 45-minute session under festoon lighting with Christmas jingles.

A number of food outlets are surrounding the ice rink, there’s something for everyone in the family. Eco-friendly wood-fired pizzas, a classic British pie & mash, burgers and hot dogs, crepes and waffles to name a few. You can even toast your own marshmallows on an open fire. The Bar will be hosting regular DJ’s in the evenings where you can also enjoy a glass of mulled wine or cider.

Rob Goves, one of the Directors of The Relish Group, commented: “It’s great to be working alongside industry experts, with whom we have great relationships from our event catering division, to create a magical and memorable experience this festive season”.
