Consultation process on Oxford United stadium closes
A consultation process on Oxford United’s proposed new stadium has attracted 3,500 submissions.
Oxfordshire County Council undertook the consultation process as the League One club seek to build a new home on civic authority lands.
The Council agreed to holding exploratory discussions with the club as their Kassam Stadium lease expires in 2026.

More than 3,500 people responded to the public consultation on a potential new sports complex however these views have not yet been studied by council officers.
A new 18,000-seater stadium, as part of a sports complex was proposed by Oxford United at Stratfield Brake, Kidlington. These include traffic calming measures and a number of sustainable travel upgrades to existing infrastructure.
The club’s intention is to connect the stadium directly to Oxford Parkway, allowing a short walk for fans from the station to the stadium.
A club spokesperson said: “Initial discussions have been held with Network Rail as direct access to the Oxford Parkway transport node is key.
"The club aims to work with the Oxfordshire Strategic Transport Forum, including the likes of Chiltern Rail, Oxford Bus Company, local councils and other stakeholders to improve public transport links with a focus on rail, bus, coach, pedestrian and cycle ways.
"The club supports the Oxford Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP). There is an opportunity to improve pedestrian and cycle access right the way through the proposed site, from the canal tow path to the Oxford Parkway station. By providing on-site cycle storage/parking this will significantly improve the ability for fans and day-to-day visitors to use their bicycles and feet to get to and from the site.
"The club are actively exploring ways to incentivise walking and cycling through ticketing schemes, on-site cycle repairs/maintenance offers and vouchers for F&B/merchandise on match days if using sustainable methods to arrive at the stadium.”
The subsequent public consultation concluded on Tuesday. Oxford Council are due to discuss the responses and wider plan at the March council meeting.
