Somerset's Walcot Group has bought the Grade II-listed The White Hart pub in Bath, which has been closed since March this year.

The pub, built in the 1700s in Widcombe, will now undergo an extensive refurbishment before re-opening later this year.

The purchase represents the continued expansion of Walcot across the south west.

The group opened the 150-cover Walcot House in Bath in 2019 and currently operates three restaurants across the south west alongside a butcher’s shop.

Group directors Martin and Debbie Still previously owned the award-winning Pear Tree in Whitley, Wiltshire, and the Methuen Arms Pub & Hotel in Corsham, Wiltshire.

"We’re excited to return to our publican roots with The White Hart," said Martin.

"It’s a beautiful, much-loved boozer, and we’re looking forward to putting it back at the heart of the community in Widcombe.

"We’ve been looking for the right pub in Bath for a few years, and we’re delighted to have found it."

The group opened its fourth site Little Walcot, a neighbourhood restaurant in Frome, Somerset in April this year.
