Business advisory firm Quantuma was lead adviser to the vendor on the sale of specialist on-track plant hire and Plant Operation Scheme (POS) services, Total Rail Solutions (TRS) to the management team, backed by Rutland Partners LLP.

Founded in 2007 as a consultancy business, Basingstoke-based TRS is now a leading on-track plant hire and POS provider to the rail industry. Working closely with both Network Rail and its main contractors supporting the construction, maintenance as well as repair of the railways, TRS has successfully established itself as the most reliable and flexible fleet profile in the industry.

A team led by partner Mark Lucas and director Fardeen Nariman provided lead financial advice to the vendor on the sale of TRS.

The management team at TRS was advised by Ian Barton, also a partner in the corporate finance team at Quantuma.

Lucas said: “We are delighted to have helped the founders secure a successful exit of the business that they founded 11 years ago.

"Rutland Partners represent a great strategic partner for TRS and we wish them and the management team every success for the future as they take full advantage of the strong market fundamentals and substantial opportunities.”
