Banbury online home and garden marketplace grows during lockdown
An online home and garden furnishings marketplace, which has its headquarters in Banbury, has reported significant growth during the Covid-19 crisis.
OnlyHome.co.uk experienced 205 per cent year-on-year revenue growth in April and May this year, compared to the same period last year. When looking at sales that were generated specifically by advertising pay-per-click advertising, revenue growth was even greater at 305 per cent.
OnlyHome.co.uk sells a wide-range of furnishings, including furniture, accessories, soft furnishings and contemporary and traditional lighting.
The website also offers hundreds of small, independent retailers the opportunity to sell products through its site. The company said that without the high volume of sales that were achieved some of its suppliers would have had to furlough, or even lay off, staff and potentially could have closed altogether.
Catriona Mason, head of partnerships at OnlyHome.co.uk, said: “Few things have brought comfort to people during these challenging times, but investing in home improvements has definitely been one of them, and as well as helping people mentally this has also benefited the economy.
“By supporting OnlyHome.co.uk, customers have not only helped themselves at this difficult time, they have also helped British businesses stay open, keep trading safely and keep the cogs turning of the wider economy. We thank everyone for supporting OnlyHome.co.uk, for supporting a nation of small businesses striving to keep going and look forward to continuing to grow and helping more people. “
Nick Handley, head of performance marketing at ecommerce agency Fluid Digital, which leads OnlyHome.co.uk’s Google advertising, said: “I don’t think anyone could have anticipated the measures the country would have to take, the number of lives that would be lost and suffering that would occur.
“People’s homes have become even more central to their lives and making them look and feel nicer is clearly one way residents are trying to ease the pain. The success of OnlyHome.co.uk’s campaign has been phenomenal and it’s great to see how this has benefited the wider economy and the public at large. The results mirror what we have seen with other home and garden retailers and we think growth will continue as long as people feel that their homes are the safest place to be.”
