Five ways to Contribute to the Community

We all look up to businesses who go above and beyond to make a real difference to the communities around them.

At the inaugural Hampshire Business Awards, we’re looking to recognise companies who have had a significant impact on their communities and the various means through which they’ve given back.

Sponsored by Associated British Ports (ABP), the Contribution to the Community Award will be presented to a company that can show how their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs have made a positive difference in the local community.

To give you the best possible chance of winning this award, we’ve put together a list of five ways that you can contribute to your community:

Implement specific initiatives – if you want to be effective in giving back to your community, designing a structured initiative is a great way of knowing whether your goals are realistic and attainable. This way, you can anticipate any challenges you may face and plan the most impactful way in which you can work.

Consider your ESG goals – a genuine dedication to improving the ESG of your business is beneficial not only to your local communities, but also to all others on a global scale. The consideration of such factors will quickly put you in our judges’ good books.

Demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion – beyond setting a good example to other businesses and driving positive changes in employment patterns, these commitments have a great impact on local economies and employee satisfaction levels.

Engage with your employees in volunteer efforts – volunteering is a key aspect of improving local communities by aiding those in need. From providing employees with adequate volunteering leave to actively setting up volunteering opportunities, engaging with your community in this way will put you on a fast-track to winning an award at this year’s event.

Collaborate with other businesses – collaboration with other businesses opens up a number of doors to help improve your community. From working together to improve ESG and CSR goals to co-funding volunteering and fundraising opportunities, this is a great way to catch the attention of our judges.

So, do you think you’ve got what it takes to take home a trophy from this year’s gala event?

Nominations for the Hampshire Business Awards are still open, and now is the perfect time to get your entries in for your chance to be crowned the best-of-the-best in the region.

Entering the awards online is quick, easy and free – don't miss out on Hampshire’s business event of the year!

Thank you again to Associated British Ports (ABP) for sponsoring this award.
