Sonardyne's wireless tech to help with underwater bomb disposal
New and innovative technology will improve the process of clearing unexploded ordnance by making it safer and more efficient.
The Initiation Transponder 6 technology has been developed by Sonardyne, an energy transition company based in Yateley. The company specialise in underwater technology and engineering services.
Sonardyne’s innovative tech allow ordnance disposal teams to send wireless acoustic commands from their vessel, thus improving safety for team members. Key to the device is a hydrostatic switch, which only permits arming of the unit when a pre-determined depth has been reached.
This secure, wireless, underwater initiation capability, say Yateley-based Sonardyne, improve safety standards of such clearances.
Initiation Transponder 6 (IT 6) is designed to be connected directly to a remotely deployed, non-electric mine neutralisation device.
