The region’s top tech businesses have been unveiled at the 2020 Thames Valley Tech Awards. Aker Systems was voted overall Thames Valley Tech Company of the year and also picked up the Emerging Tech Company and High Growth Tech Business awards.

Two awards each went to KYMIRA (Tech SME of the Year and the Science & Technology Award) and Volume (Innovative Tech Company and Tech Employer of the Year). Content GuruAmito and Amberjack were also winners.

The third annual awards – held virtually for the first time – welcomed back television presenter Vernon Kay to host a live interactive event from a studio in Reading. Judges appeared online to unveil the winners in each of the 10 categories.

A Tweet Wall ran during the one-hour event for finalists and guests to share comments. A half-hour of online networking before the awards ceremony and a networking chat facility available throughout the event gave guests and sponsors the opportunity to link up.

Vernon Kay began proceedings by emphasising the contribution technology makes to the region. “Tech is, of course, synonymous with the Thames Valley. The region is home to many technology companies – from global market leaders to start-ups,” he said. “In fact, the largest cluster of digital businesses outside London is right here in the TV – contributing tens of billions of pounds to the UK’s digital economy.”

The awards are organised by The Business Magazine to recognise the outstanding achievements of The Thames Valley’s tech companies. Headline sponsors are Westcoast and Marsh Commercial. The other sponsors are BarclaysBDOBlake MorganCroweEYHaysIncloud SolutionsLDC and Verlingue. The media partner is Jargon PR.
