South East accountants and business advisers James Cowper Kreston has secured one of the highest cyber security standards in the UK ensuring that its staff and client data is among the most secure in the country.

Cyber Essentials, the independent Government-backed IT security accrediting body, has helped James Cowper Kreston implement tough cyber security software and systems and then systematically simulated cyber attacks against the firm trying to ‘break’ its IT systems.

James Cowper Kreston is just one of two accountancy firms in the UK to achieved the Cyber Essentials Standard (PLUS) benchmark.

Robert Holland, managing partner, said: “We have always invested heavily in our IT infrastructure and online security, and have always known that our systems were robust.  We have spent the past seven months reviewing and upgrading every aspect of our security systems and now have among the best that is available.  Clients can be assured that their data is highly secure.”

Brian Lightowler, managing director at Cyber Essentials, added: “Cyber crime is one of the largest threats facing businesses today.  No business is immune.  James Cowper Kreston has achieved the highest possible benchmark for IT security and should be commended for its efforts.”

The Cyber Essentials Plus benchmark is an annual accreditation.
