The Business Magazine South Coast Tech awards return this week.

Our celebration of leading-edge technological development, research, and sales returns ‘in person’ for the first-time post pandemic his Thursday. The Business Magazine are delighted that the sectors leading, specialist software and technology recruitment firm, Spectrum IT are headline sponsor of what is among many other things, a first-class networking event.

We spoke to Spectrum IT Financial Officer, Linda Purkess, about the partnership, who said: “We are delighted to engage with and create partnerships that help promote the local software and tech community and recognise excellence in local tech companies.

“The South Coast Tech Awards is a highly respected awards programme, which recognises and celebrates the achievements of the region’s strong technology sector and the people behind the businesses. Spectrum IT is pleased to be associated with and support the event.”

Spectrum IT is a service provider in the same space as the SCTA, they typically work with software companies or those where software is integral to their business.

Linda added: "We support several of the nominees with their recruitment requirements.

"The south coast tech industry is very intertwined, everyone knows everyone, particularly at a management level, and so Spectrum IT is a good match to an event that brings together specialist IT personnel and celebrates their achievements.”

One of the many benefits of entering firms for accolades such as the South Coast Tech Awards, is the knock on effect it has on recruitment.

Job seekers prefer to join winning teams. They seek prestige and employers with that winning formula. Potential employees research their options and act accordingly.

Linda Purkess agreed: “Employees tend to know their worth and companies who undervalue their staff run the risk of losing them.

“Traffic to our website has remained buoyant as candidates search for new roles. As an established business with local market knowledge, Spectrum IT has a large network of candidates that it can access when sourcing candidates to meet specific client requirements.”

So what advice do you have for those companies determined to retain talent in the midst of a talent shortage. “A slick recruitment process linked with an appealing remuneration package will help companies attract candidates of their choice.”

As will a reputation as a South Coast Tech Award winning, leading-edge company.
