Southampton Uni spin-out AccelerComm raises £21.5m in Series B funding
University of Southampton spin-out AccelerComm has announced it has closed £21.5 million in Series B funding from Parkwalk, Swisscom and Hostplus together with participation from existing investors Bloc Ventures, IP Group and IQ Capital.
AccelerComm, which has IP which optimises 5G radio access network performance, will use the funding to continue the expansion of its current team, further its US and global expansion, and develop its technology as it sees growing demand among mobile operators, telecoms equipment vendors and satellite operators.
The company’s technology corrects mobile transmission errors caused by noise, interference and poor signal strength and can be optimised for the specific needs of both terrestrial and satellite communications.
Founded by Professor Rob Maunder at the University of Southampton in 2016, AccelerComm counts Vodafone, Intel, AMD and National Instruments among its clients, and has won a number of industry awards including a Global Mobile Award at MWC Barcelona in 2022.
