Law firm Trethowans has appointed a specialist technology partner to complement its extensive business law team in the South of England.

Julian Hamblin joins Trethowans from Womble Bond Dickinson. He has more than 30 years’ experience and is one of very few legal practitioners in the region to specialise in IT and technology law.

Hamblin joins one of the most comprehensive corporate and commercial teams in its region; the team is comprised of 18 corporate, commercial and banking lawyers, each a specialist in their own field.

He said: “I’m pleased to be able to introduce a technology specialism to Trethowans. The South is really starting to lead the way as a technological hub. We have exciting, innovative and fast growing technology companies here, who we can support. In addition, as most commerce today is heavily dependent on technology, we help all sorts of companies to acquire and successfully deploy technology in their business.”

Mike Watson, partner and head of corporate, said: “Julian is just the latest excellent addition to our team. Employing true specialists in each area of banking, corporate and commercial contracts, the Corporate Team at Trethowans has grown substantially in the last three years. The addition of Julian’s expertise in technology gives us that essential additional skill-set that most other firms in the region don’t have on offer.”
