Andover-headquartered Simplyhealth has donated 40 Chromebook laptops to Unity, an Andover-based charity, to support community groups across Test Valley.

As part of the Digital Inclusion Project at Unity, the Chromebooks will support people in the Test Valley area to become more digitally literate and improve their confidence when online.

John Ali, head of brand at Simplyhealth, said: “It’s fantastic that we’re able to gift these Chromebooks due to changes in our IT equipment, to those in the community who need them the most.

“It’s part of our purpose to support community causes, and we are delighted to be able to support Unity with this donation.”

Unity is part-funded by Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council. It works with local organisations to support vulnerable members of the Test Valley Community.

Terry Bishop, chief executive at Unity, said: “Our thanks to Simplyhealth for generously providing Unity with over 40 Chromebooks. Our digital team will be able to use them in the community to help people who are not digitally able to learn and access the internet, shop online and perhaps even connect to family and friends.

“This project could enhance people’s lives particularly if they are feeling lonely or isolated and need that little bit of help.”

Simplyhealth also donated 200 Chromebooks at the beginning of the year to help local families with home learning during the coronavirus lockdowns.
