One of the world's most respected and sought-after futurists will be the keynote speaker at the Thames Valley Tech Awards in May.

Peter Cochrane will speak on technology, change and the future effects of change on corporations, individuals and society. His reputation as a 'thought-leader' and thinking 'out of the box' will ensure guests at this prestigious awards night will take home valuable insights on the world of tech.

Cochrane, the former head of research at British Telecommunications plc, the UK's largest telecommunications company, is on the board of  TTI/Vanguard, a group of renowned innovators (including Nicholas Negroponte) based in Santa Monica, California, who continually scan the frontiers of technology and give early warnings about breakthrough and potentially disruptive technologies.

Cochrane produces a monthly blog for TechRepublic.com, one of the leading information sites for the technology industry. He is the author of over 1,000 blogs, articles and scientific papers, numerous books on the future, technology, business, management, and living with rapid change.  Cochrane writes for publications such as the Economist, the Daily Telegraph, Wired, the Financial Times, Financial Director and the South China Morning Star, and examines subjects such as the future of communications technology, banking and payment systems, how our cities will develop, government, healthcare, manufacturing, the environment, nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Awards chairman David Murray said: "This is the first year of the Thames Valley Tech Awards and we are delighted by, not only the fantastic response from the region's business community, but also the calibre of guests who will be at this inaugural dinner. Having Peter Cochrane as our 'keynote' is the icing on the cake. I am so looking forward to his presentation."

The Thames Valley Tech Awards is supported by headline sponsors Sage and Westcoast, and sponsored by Barclays, Centerprise, Blake Morgan, Grant Thornton, Penningtons Manches, Lambert Smith Hampton, Moore Stephens, Boyes Turner, Austin Fraser, ConnectTVT, techUK and Howbery Business Park.

The dinner - at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading on Thursday, May 24 - is selling fast. To book a table, email Linda Morse at linda@elcot.co.uk
