Anesco, the Reading-based energy efficiency company, has been shortlisted in two important categories in the third annual Investors in People Awards, which received over 300 entries internationally.

Anesco works with homeowners, local authorities and businesses looking to reduce their carbon emissions. It is ranked one of the world’s top 100 cleantech companies and it has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Leadership and Management (under 249 employees) category. Its CEO, Adrian Pike, has been shortlisted in the Leader of the Year category.

This is the latest in a long line of accolades for Anesco from Investors in People. It is the youngest company to achieve its Gold Standard status, being one of only a handful of organisations in the history of the scheme to achieve gold in its first assessment.

Judges commended the management style of Adrian Pike, saying he was “inspiring” and “led staff by example”. They were also impressed with how Anesco’s managers were empowered to develop their people without financial constraints.

Pike said: “We pride ourselves on the way we help our employees reach their full potential, with plenty of professional training and development, so this award is testament to our mission.”

Anesco employs more than 150 permanent members of staff, with up to 600 contractors and 103 supply-chain partners and logistics staff employed at any one time. The company has helped to take over 275,000 people out of fuel poverty, and the renewable technologies it has deployed are now generating over 500MW of power.

It has been highlighted as one of the top 250 firms in the country. The organisation was named the country’s fastest-growing private company two years in a row and its senior team has been named BVCA management team of the year for three years running – an achievement never seen before in the history of the awards.

The company will find out if it has won in its categories at the Investors in People Awards at a glitzy ceremony in London in June.
