Milton Keynes becomes Englands first full fibre connected city in UK

Milton Keynes has become the first UK city with complete fibre to the premises broadband after a four year installation project.

The internet infrastucture was laid by CityFibre and provides 90,000 homes, approx' 90% of houses in Milton Keynes with access to the new network.

The provider says the upgrade will bring more than £560m in productivity gains and £123m from a widened workforce over next 15 years.

The project has used almost 1,000km of dense Full Fibre cabling since construction began in March 2018.
The announcement is CityFibre’s first completed project in England.

Milton Keynes was the first location announced to benefit from CityFibre and Vodafone’s strategic partnership in 2018. It enables residents to enjoy affordable, gigabit-capable reliable Full Fibre broadband from a range of internet service providers (ISPs) including launch partner Vodafone, TalkTalk, Zen, Fibrehop and IDNet.
